Anacostia Port Towns Paddlesport Regatta

Restoring the Anacostia                                    Events and Times

The Race Course        Regatta Entries

     Getting There

Restoring the Anacostia - The Anacostia Watershed Society is working to restore the Anacostia River, Washington's "other" wild and scenic river.  The Anacostia has been designated one of the most endangered rivers in the country in the past. Development pressures over the years have forced the decline in water quality and open watershed land. Recreational paddlesports are returning to the river as its health is beginning to improve due to increased restoration efforts.  You can support the restoration of our local paddling waters and the exciting revitalization of the waterfront area by participating in this regatta. All race fees will go toward the river revitalization work of the Anacostia Watershed Society. Race fees are $15 per person, per race. Help us bring recreational and competitive watercraft back to the Bladensburg Waterfront Park, a historically significant East-Coast trading port in Colonial America!

The Race Course - For canoeing and kayaking events, the course will be a slalom where you will race not just against the clock, but against another paddler for that heat. Join us for this exciting urban paddlesport event which will bring together rowers, canoeists, and kayakers. The restoration of the Anacostia is crucial to the long term health of the region, the Chesapeake Bay, and the continual success of recreational watersports.
